Basic Accounts
As we noted in our last News post, as of today users will be able to downgrade their account to Basic through the Manage Account page. In addition, visitors who are not logged in to LiveJournal will now be seeing ads on Basic accounts and communities; the experience of logged-in users will not change.

Announcing lj_advisory
We are pleased to announce the creation of the lj_advisory community, set up so you can find news and information related to the activities of the Advisory Board. We recognize that it has taken us a while to get this community up and running, and that has caused some frustration. From now on, we will post topics which will be discussed by the Advisory Board prior to the date of the meeting and summaries of meetings after they occur. Throughout the year, the Advisory Board may also post requests for opinions on topics which may be discussed at future meetings. This is the official community for communication with the Advisory Board – comments will be read by Advisory Board members who will respond as they feel appropriate.

RTE + Opera and Safari = <3
RTE stands for Rich Text Editor, which is the default method of posting entries from the Post an Entry page. Our Rich Text Editor is based on the open-source FCKeditor code. It allows you to make links or LiveJournal user tags, insert photos or videos, and format your entries without needing to know HTML. That is, unless you use Opera or Safari as a browser, in which case you couldn't use the RTE.

That will be changing today. We are pleased to announce that the RTE has been upgraded to the latest version of the FCK code, which includes support for Opera and Safari! In addition, many of the bugs in the old version have been fixed. If you've been using RTE, you will most likely need to clear your browser's cache in order to use the new version.

<strike> vs. <b>
Last year we changed the visual display of deleted and suspended usernames from a line through the username to a bold font. This had the effect of making the name unclickable - which meant that no one could easily determine whether the username had been deleted or suspended. We've reversed this display, returning deleted and suspended usernames to a struck-through and clickable state.

The deadline to submit your flash fiction entry to "Quick Tales," LiveJournal's partnership with Caferati in India is fast approaching. Users who wish to find out more about this exciting contest should take a look at our india_writing community. Be quick! Memories Come Back To Life is an advanced Gossip Girl RPG currently looking for any new members who are looking for an active, very literate board with which to occupy their time. What sets Memories apart from the other numerous GG boards? It sets everyone’s favorite elite members in a college setting, nearly three years ahead of the time period in which the show takes place. It gives our favorite characters a chance to move away from the city, meet new people, do new things, create more drama. Really, it gives you endless avenues to explore with a canon of your choice or an original character that you take the time to create. We are accepting OCs right now, but what we really need is someone interested in playing the role of Chuck Bass. While all of his friends (and his girlfriend) decided to continue their schooling in Ivy League fashion, he opted to begin with his life. He never was the student type anyways. But now, he’s living in Manhattan, a faithful employee of Bass Inc. with a recent promotion under his belt as his girlfriend, Blair Waldorf, lives as a student at Yale. The very same school where his best friend, Nate Archibald, is also attending, putting the two of them in very close proximity. But Chuck doesn’t seem to mind, as he keeps putting his work before his girlfriend and going weeks at a time without seeing her. And did we mention that Blair’s beginning to fall for the golden boy again, convincing her to break up with her current boyfriend as soon as he can find the time to be in the same room as her? Is there anything he can do to keep Blair from breaking his heart now? And if she does, will he ever still be able to be Nate’s friend, especially if his ex ends up back in his arms? Only time will tell…

Hey, guys. I'm an administrator over at a Gossip Girl RPG. We've been open for a month or so now. We still have some canons open and also accepting originals.



Gossip Girl here, you're one and only source into the scandalous lives of Manhattan's elite. Come take a look into our lives. Do you think you could survive the drama? Take a trip to the Upper East Side, where my friends and I eat, play, and sleep - sometimes with each other. Just make you sure you watch what you do (or who you do), because I'm always watching. And you are nobody until you are talked about.

Take our fav UES royalty for example. Our resident Queen, B, always seems to be at the center of the trouble. From her drama with her childhood sweetheart N sleeping with her best friend S to her on again-off again romance with N's best friend C, this bitchy beauty seems to have a firm grasp over her realm. And when C isn't trying to bed B, he's bedding everything else with a va-jay-jay. Then there is the on again-off again romance between N and S. Poor Golden Boy can't seem to decide on which of the beauties he wants more. And S... talk about bad girl gone good! Does anyone think she can really keep up this act? We all are waiting for the moment when she snaps back to reality and returns to her old ways.

The new people drifting in and out of town don't usually help either. Temptation lurks at every corner. Summer is just getting started, and luckily for all of you, Gossip Girl doesn’t go on a summer break. Just because the summer begins doesn’t mean the gossip stops. In fact, I find the heat always makes people do scandalous things. Fortunately, I’ll keep bringing you the latest and the greatest (with lots of thanks to my wonderful informants around the world). We’ll have our ears open and our eyes peeled to catch our sinners in the act and you can be assured when we find them I will write about it. That’s just how I am. Grab your shades and your sunblock. I hear this summer’s going to be a scorcher.

I'm taking requests for fics for this fandom :) I'll write anything from PG-13 to.. well, smut. Of course many of us have the commercial DVD. It is jus tthere for thosde who do not and do have the service.

a downfall is that the HD broadcast is reformatted 16:( :( but there is a WS version which features the full scope image.
