The scent of gasoline drenched the air. Brooklyn was certainly not her idea of glamorous, but Lily Van der Woodsen knew that she needed to be here. Her daughter had pleaded her, begged with her, not to date Rufus Humphrey. Still, she couldn’t stay away from the man.
Good afternoon, faithful readers. Gossip Girl here. They say that it’s common for a bride to get “cold feet” before a wedding, but those cold feet sure have taken Lily Van der Woodsen far from her fabulous ceremony. As they say- once a divorcee, always a divorcee.
She wasn’t sure if she could go another step. For all she knew, one more step could forever ruin her future, but it could also be one of her greatest triumphs yet.
“Lily?” said a calming, familiar voice. It was Rufus Humphrey. His matted, dark hair gave off an aroma of heavy spices, reminiscent of their younger days. He had always been quite the cook. Those nights together, shacked up in his van were some of Lily’s favorite memories.
“What are you doing here?” the middle-aged man awoke her from her day-dreaming, her eyes floating up to meet his. There was something about those messy, mismanaged clothes that almost seemed enchanting.
“I just-“ Lily started, stopping herself as the words began to tumble unevenly. She sorted out the gibberish, gathering the strength to gaze into his handsome eyes. “I can’t go on with the wedding,” she told him, her beautiful, crystal eyes welling up with nervous tears. It was so unlike her. She was so used to acting composed and witty around this man who was once her first love. Here, she felt was the moment to let that wall down and, for once, let him know what she felt without him having to guess. He was good at that.
“Well…” he began, his gentle eyes surveying her ivory gown of lace, “You look beautiful.”
There was something about the way that he said that that meant so much more than anything Bart would ever say. She needed to hear Rufus say that. His words always had so much emotion. They were so genuine. That was what she definitely needed in her life.
The two of them almost seemed to simultaneously understand that they had to approach each other. With every step, Lily could hear her heart rising higher in her throat. It was such an uneasy sensation, but it felt so right.
No more words. They needed to hear nothing more for their lips to embrace one another and create one of the most passionate kisses that either of them had experienced in a decade. A sweet euphoria spread from their mouths down to their knees, and they knew it was right. No more running away. Lily had found the very person she knew that she would always need, and he knew the same. Their lives without each other were over. The wait was finally over.
Too late to turn back now, Lily. We might need to pop out the champagne bottles early. The groom’s going to need a drink.

Chuck and Nate strolled down the sidewalk, the taller male studying the gum spat onto the ground and making sure not to step into it. Chuck, however, appeared to be maneuvering around the mess with ease, his eyes staring out straight ahead of him, his head casually turning to the side to check out another girl. Well, he was having a hard time of that, seeing as Nate was strutting sweaty and shirtless beside him.
“Think we should take a cab?” Nate sighed, wiping the sweat off of his forehead with a single, large hand. It was beginning to get awfully hot outside.
“Probably- seeing as the saying goes: ‘If you can’t take the heat, get the heck off of the sidewalk,” Chuck smirked deviously, his dark and mysterious eyes studying every inch of Nathaniel’s body. Little did he know, seeing as he was in his glory (as usual), Nate actually spotted him doing so in the corner of his eye. Still, Nate really didn’t care- he never took Chuck as that kind of guy, so he simply brushed it off of his shoulders.
“TAXI!” Nathaniel called out, his deep and dreadfully handsome voice making the nearest, yellow taxi screech to a halt. How interesting… the driver was female. Chuck merely rolled his eyes, watching as Nate tossed himself into the back of the vehicle.
When true love is hard to find- as they always say- get the next best thing. You never know. Love may be just around the corner.

Bart Bass stood outside of the very room he was supposed to get married in. He had built himself; he’d gotten himself to this level of success. Why was the hardest thing for him simply to find true love? Lily had seemed genuine, though vain at times, but he really thought that he loved her. Why would she run away like that?
“You have to do it sooner or later,” Serena said, trying to be as gentle as she could. Deep down, she was pleased the Bart Bass wasn’t going to be her father, but she still felt bad for him. Over time, she had learned that he wasn’t such a bad guy- regardless of his often times ridiculous son. Where was Chuck, anyway?
Eric was standing beside his sister, eyeing a young man that happened to be passing by at the moment. Serena was still getting used to him doing that. It was strange when he happened to find someone attractive when she happened to also.
Bart simply nodded towards the two teens, his heart sinking into his throat. Being a business man, he had to give bad news a lot, but this may have just been the worst yet. Pressing a clammy palm onto the golden door slate, the older man stepped inside, all pride washing away as all of the numerous guests turned to stare at him.
He started to walk up to the altar. He took slow steps, each one crashing onto the floor like a dying wave. It was so silent- too silent. As he stepped up to the front of the room, he cleared his throat. “It is my regret that I should let you all know,” he stopped for a moment, breathing heavily as the nerves set in, “Ms. Van der Woodsen will not be married today.”
Horrified gasps set in from every pew. The room was shaken up just by that single sentence. The older, gossipy hens of the room were all leaning over towards each other, whispering rumors as soon as they could. Bart noticed Lily’s mother in the front, shaking her grayed head in disdain. She looked terribly disappointed, but she also seemed to know something. It was like she had an idea about what had happened to her daughter.
“Mr. Bass!” called out a small voice, a thin frame rising in its presence. It was Ms. Archibald. She had recently gotten out of a divorce from her drunken husband. “There must be a wedding today,” she smiled warmly, quietly approaching the altar as the room silenced itself in interest. “Will you have me?” she asked, her face glowing like it never had before. She had always been like a mannequin to Bart while in the presence of her husband.
He did not protest. He needed a wife. He wanted somebody tobe there for him and to keep Chuck out of trouble. “We need a marriage permit!” he older man exclaimed, and the crowd appeared to be scrambling in order to find somebody who could legally take care of such. There was a rush of blood in Ms. Archibald’s veins. She was ready to start over- fresh and clean.
Who ever said weddings were boring and clichéd? Gossip Girl knows that a good wedding always spreads a little gossip. At least the reception will be more than a shocker to the boys. Stick around… These things have a way of exploding… You know you love me.

That was why the union between her and Nathaniel Archibald was perfect. It was so beautiful, in Eleanor’s mind. Nate, unlike her own husband, had not had a history of switch-hitting before settling upon her precious daughter. He would so easily follow her around, just as Eleanor knew her daughter wanted it to be. Nate was her daughter’s overgrown, pure-eyed puppy. He never had the guts to leave her… until recently.

On to part two! :D
->->->->->->->->->->->->->->->->->->->->
Nate never actually expected to talk to Chuck again. In fact, he was so sure, he had discussed such at dinner with his lonely mother. It was then that she had broken his hopes of separating himself from his party-obsessed partner in crime. The crime? Being total potheads.
“Nate,” his mother had begun, folding her hands together with great care. Her creepish smile told him that she was about to say something he didn’t want to hear. “You and Charles have been friends for such a long time. I believe you should apologize and just… forget this ever happened,” she grinned, trying as best as she could to hide what thoughts were dominating the answer she had just given her son.
“Look, Mom, I know what you’re trying to do,” Nate replied. He could smell it on her. It was just another money scam. He was tired of using people for his father’s business. “Besides, nothing between him and I is going to get better unless he’s the one to apologize,” Nate grumbled, standing up from the table and storming off, leaving his mother to eat alone once again.
Now he was stuck in this wonderful situation. Chuck was sitting on the edge of his bed, giving him the most innocent look that he had ever witnessed on his so-called “friend.”
“Nate,” Chuck began, standing up to face the other male. “Listen, I told off Blair. You and I-“ he was soon cut off by a still angry Nate.
“You don’t know what it’s like, Chuck. You’ve never even had a real girlfriend, have you?” he continued to yell, his voice slowly getting quieter. Nate knew what memory Chuck was about to call on, and Nate just wasn’t going to have it. It had been during the summer between their freshman and sophomore years. It was a night that Nate prayed to forget. Whenever he thought about that moment, he wished he had never met Carter.
They had been playing spin the bottle. There were girls there, of course. Carter wouldn’t have it any other way. Still, it was a game that only seemed to worsen as they grew older, just as truth or dare. The dares would only become more and more risqué, and the truth questions never bore honest answers. Chuck, as usual, was pushing Nate to do something that he wasn’t all too sure about.
“What’s a little harmless fun, Nathaniel?” Chuck smirked evilly, and Nate could have sworn that he saw a snake tongue creep out of his friend’s constantly moving mouth. He knew it wasn’t going to be harmless, but he shrugged it off anyway.
“I’ll spin the bottle first,” Chuck proudly proclaimed, only soon to be shoved out of the way by a quite more muscled Carter.
“Please, my friend. Don’t be so eager,” the older boy said. He sat down in the circle, the black carpet beneath him scraping against his expensive slacks. With a twist of his fingers, the bottle went off, twirling in a continuous circle. The group of girls watched it as if it was the most amazing artifact they had ever discovered.
Some mutterings of, “Please be me,” could be heard on all corners of the circle. Chuck rolled his eyes, obviously disappointed that he wasn’t the one to start the whole thing off. Nate nudged his friend, chuckling in amusement.
The silence was then broken as the open end of the bottle pointed towards a squealing freshman female. Glares were shot in her direction, but the jealousy had no affect on the girl. Carter laughed, leaning in to smack a fat kiss on the girl’s plump, red lips. Her friends around her burst out in giggles, whispering things into her ears one at a time.
“Now you may take the wheel, grasshopper,” Carter patted a bitter Chuck’s shoulder, grinning as the younger boy shoved his hand away. Chuck Bass refused to be embarrassed in front of such an attractive bunch. He quickly recomposed himself, returning to his usually cocky self. He took the bottle into his own hand, thrusting his wrist in order to give it a good spin.
Around and around it went and everyone, even Nate, watched it as intently as they could. Hours seemed to pass as the bottle slowed to a stop. Just as it appeared to be aiming at a gorgeous, senior girl with a devilish grin on her face, the bottle almost seemed to move by itself, surprising all that sat in the circle. Nate’s bright blue eyes widened. Did somebody hit it? It must be some sort of cheat.
“That should be a re-spin,” Nate protested, beginning to regret ever joining the game in the first place. Why did he ever listen to Chuck? Why?
Carter’s evil expression unmoving, he continued, “I’m sorry, Nate, but it landed on you.”
Nate was speechless for a quick moment, trying to find words to convince everyone to let Chuck have another spin. “I think somebody hit it. I just don’t think-“
“Then just don’t think,” came the sultry and seductive voice of Chuck, his breath hot on Nate’s sensitive ear. Nate could feel himself gently quake under the touch of the unnerving warmth. When he turned to face his friend, Chuck was already pouncing in for the kiss. It was a strange feeling to Nate. Chuck was obviously a very experienced kisser. That wasn’t always a good thing. Still, Nate could feel his cheeks heat up as Chuck’s tongue stroked his own. He found himself actually being aroused by his friend’s kiss.
It was then that another thing happened that Chuck would never forget. Nathaniel’s hand rose from the floor beneath them to Chuck’s face. His large hand was callused and a little sweaty, but it felt so right as it caressed the paler face glued to his own. As their tongues untied and Nate’s hand pulled away, Chuck could already feel himself having withdrawals. He couldn’t help but stare at those eyes for a single moment before the two were completely separated.
Nate saw something in Chuck’s eyes that he had never seen before. It was a heavy, dark look of desire, but it held a new piece this time around. This piece was unrecognizable, and Nate wasn’t sure if he ever wanted to find out what that look meant. He did as best as he could to avert his gaze.
Girls around the ring were whistling and swooning over the event that they had just witnessed. Nate remembered watching later that night as Chuck paid everyone off to keep the news from Gossip Girl. Luckily, they all took the bait without question, and the event was never heard of again. Of course, that didn’t mean that some girls hadn’t kept picture mementos in their sleek, hot pink phones.
Nate’s vision cleared as he reminded himself where he was. He stood about two feet away from Chuck whom was about to explain himself. Still, that crisp, clear memory lingered in the back of his mind. He knew his friend well enough to know that he was about to recall the event himself.
“Do you remember a couple years back,” Chuck cleared his throat, staring darkly at the other man before him. Nate bit his lip. It wasn’t hard enough to make him bleed, but it was a bite painful enough to push the thoughts away. “-when we kissed,” Chuck finished, his lips spread carefully apart as the words drifted smoothly off of his tongue.
“Chuck,” Nate stopped him, his tone far more calm than it had been before. “We really don’t have to bring that up,” he said, lifting his hand in front of his chest as if to clear the space between he and Chuck.
“Yes, Nathaniel, I do,” he muttered, taking a heavy step toward the other. “I’ve been patient,” he stated. His tone seemed to rise just as Nate’s had dropped, “I’ve come to take what’s rightfully mine.”
“You don’t own the world, Chuck!” Nate shouted, practically laughing at Chuck’s high and mighty beliefs about himself. “And most of all…” he grimaced, taking long strides over to his door. He turned the handle, opening his bedroom door as if to direct the smaller of the two out. “… You don’t own me,” he finished.
Chuck pursed his lips as a look of bitter defeat struck his features. He took the exit, stopping just before his left foot took a step outside of the room. His head shot towards the taller boy, his brown eyes staring through him, “You’ll see.” And with a devilish grin, Charles Bass was out of sight.
It bothered Nate how self-assured Chuck sounded when he said that. It made him feel uneasy. It seemed as if Chuck knew how things were going to fall into place. Nate wondered if that was how he had treated Blair. Chuck had always manipulated situations to get exactly what he wanted. Even if that meant resorting to desperate measures…
… He had to call her.
->->->->->->->->->->->->->->->->->->->->
Serena’s blonde lockes swayed prettily as her face lit up and her perfect smile let out a laugh that purely belonged to a four-year-old. She and Blair Waldorf were up in Blair’s room, painting their nails a deep crimson and chatting the night away. Blair needed her now. She needed her best friend- especially after all that had happened to her.
The joke ended, and their laughter slowly came to a halt. Serena’s smile became less bright, and her blue eyes softened. “I’m really sorry, Blair,” she smiled loosely, patting her friend gently on the shoulder.
“Ah, well… Jenny won’t get away that easily,” the brunette remarked, her voice struggling to hold back the hatred she held when she spoke that name. “Just as Gossip Girl says,” she said, smirking almost heartlessly as she pulled out the clear polish and stroked the final nail, “The faster you climb, the harder you fall.”
Serena stared as Blair inspected her glorious, red nails. “Don’t be too hard on her,” she said lightly, knowing that Blair would never take direct instruction from anyone. Not even her own mother could tame the Queen B.
“Don’t worry, Serena. I’ll play nice,” Blair said. She looked up, her brown eyes misleading and innocent. Serena couldn’t help but worry for the sake of both of them, but she knew not to toy with the subject any further. Of course, she knew she would have to eventually get involved. She always did.
-Vvvt! Vvvt!
Blair’s phone shook on the carpet. It had the most monstrous vibrate and was absolutely impossible to ignore. Blair sighed in frustration, begrudgingly snatching the phone with a claw and staring at the ID. “What?” she said beneath her breath, her face lit up from the glow of the phone. “This can’t be right.”
“What is it?” Serena asked, both worry and curiosity prevalent in the question.
“Nate’s calling,” Blair said, still in disbelief.
“Well, what does he need?” said Serena as she spoke in a casual fashion.
“I don’t’ know!” exclaimed the smaller female, still in utter surprise.
“Answer it!” Serena shouted laughingly, rather amused at the thought of Nate sitting in his room, unable to be without Blair for more than ten hours. She couldn’t avoid the small bit of jealousy in her, but she knew that she was better off with Dan anyway. He was good for her.
Blair pressed the “talk” button with certain ferocity, her mouth curving into a frown as she answered him, “Make up your mind.” Serena found herself giggling at the greeting, rolling onto her back as Blair proudly smiled to see the reaction she had managed out of her BFF.
“Blair, this is serious. I need to ask you something…” Blair froze at his voice. She could tell when Nate really needed something from her. She was a little scared to ask what he needed, but she couldn’t just sit there.
“What is it?” Blair muttered, her mouth dropping with the suspense. Serena noticed the coldness in her friend’s tone and pushed herself off of the floor. She wasn’t sure how to react, so she decided to wait for the call to end in order to ask what, exactly, was going on.
“It’s about Chuck…” he said.
For Blair, the world could have ended right there.

Author's Notes: Here's my first shot at this. :] Hope you like it!
Disclaimer: I do not own the show Gossip Girl. If I did, Chuck would already be gay by now. :]
Summary: Chuck was never one to really give a damn. Too bad he lost the only person that even gave a damn about him. ((The title comes from the song "This City is at War" by Cobra Starship.))
Chuck Bass. That name held such high regard in the minds of money grubbers everywhere, but few did actually enjoy his company. Chuck Bass was probably one of the most arrogant and irritating people on the face of earth, especially in the eyes of newly refined beings such as Serena Van der Woodsen. Now, even the ever-so-cynical Blair Waldorf had a reason to hate him. She was quite fun to play with, and he had to admit, he had thought that he loved her, but, everyone- they were his accessories. He couldn't help it. It was in his diamond-speckled blood to throw people away once he got bored. It was a tragedy. Too bad he could care less.
The room seemed to grow darker as the passing moments happened to reveal something to him. Chuck's heart was pounding in his throat, and tonight he was going to finally admit something to himself that he had considered too ridiculous to get in the way of his having fun. He wasn't sure if it was that he was necessarily "gay." All he knew was that losing Nathaniel was the hardest thing he had to take. Nate Archibald was not a toy. He was not so easily thrown away. He was a precious heirloom. He was something so sentimental that not even the high and mighty Chuck Bass wanted to just toss him to the wind. Nate wasn't something... He was someone.
-Cough!
The liquor had managed to disturb his thoughts, traveling unevenly down his throat and into his wind pipe. Wonderful. He had just caused more reason for people to stare at him. At least then they'd know how to properly dress. Sometimes he felt embarrassed to be drinking in the same bar as some of those people. Half of them looked like tacky tourists. It was almost insulting.
-Cough!
Chuck poised himself for a moment, rolling his eyes when the bartender asked him if he would like some water. "Please. What good could that possibly do?" he muttered, standing up and tipping the hardly grateful man. Boredom was beginning to creep up on him, and that was something that a Bass just wouldn't have. He could just call Nathaniel and-
Nate...
Chuck clenched his teeth. Well, he could just call someone else. Then again, the only reason anybody would be interested was if he was throwing another party. Honestly, he wasn't in the mood. For once, he just wanted to talk. He wanted that person that would laugh at his witty remarks and actually appreciate his sarcasm. He didn't want another accessory. He wanted Nathaniel. Chuck got what Chuck wanted. This time, for once, what he wanted was out of reach. It was the most frustrating feeling he had experienced yet.
Still, he was not ready to go home. He refused to go home just to see his gray couch sitting in the middle of his suite. Not when it would be cold and Nateless.
Chuck had to be careful. He was beginning to surprise himself with how sentimental he was getting. Sentimental was boring. It reminded him too much of one of those long, drawn out movies that was spent with most of the protagonist crying and belly-aching.
Besides, Chuck always saw himself as more of an antagonist anyway...
->->->->->->->->->->->->->->->->->->->->
Knock, knock!
"I'll get it!" Nate shouted down the stairway, his pace quickening with every step. It wasn't long before he faced the door, the -ding, dong- beginning to play over and over as whoever was on the other side of that door obviously lost their patience.
"Hello?" he answered, his neutral expression dropping as the pale and manicured face of Chuck revealed itself. Chuck pursed his lips, noticing the disappointment on his former best friend's chiseled features. "What are you doing here?" Nate said bitterly. It wasn't as much of a question as it was a reference for, 'Back off before I punch your face in.'
"Please, Nathaniel. I simply came to talk." He attempted to reason with Nate, but Chuck and reason were never a good pair.
"Talk? What's there to talk about? I trusted you, Chuck. Frankly, I still can't believe how I ever did," he bit back, his brows furrowing in anger. He watched Chuck squeeze his dark eyes for a moment, his apparent expression explaining that he was attempting to think of a reason as to why he could be trusted, but to no avail.
"Charles?" came the voice of Nate's ever-clueless mother, her wide eyes narrowing down on their guest. "Oh, Charles! Why don't you join us, dear?" she pleaded, that eerie smile planted on her face as it always was. Even Chuck thought that look was a little odd. Still, he sustained his composure and grinned, his eyes still on Nate.
"Why, I'd love to, Mrs. Archibald," he accepted her invitation, nudging past Nate who still found himself in disbelief.
"Mom, I need to talk to Chuck," Nate cut in, twisting around on his heels to meet his mother's gaze. She simply remained calm, smiling and nodding all the while. "Upstairs," he continued, mouth twitching in the awkward moment. Chuck was merely happy to be inside. He was already making his way over to the wine rack, pulling out his choice and inspecting it.
"Sure. Go ahead," his mother agreed, pushing to the back of her mind that it could be an urgent matter, just as she would with anything that could possibly be serious. Nate knew his mother was delirious.
"All right, then. Thanks," he mumbled, aggravation carefully rising as he stormed over to Chuck, practically dragging him up to the next level, wine bottle and all.
Chuck struggled here and there, feeling more and more degraded as the boys moved out of Mrs. Archibald's sight. "Please, Nathaniel! They don't mass produce shirts of this quality," he begged his companion, trying with what little strength he had to get back up on his feet and walk by his own will. Nate seemed to ignore Chuck and simply continued down the hall.
"All right, Chuck. What the hell do you want!?" he shouted, his mother probably downstairs ignoring whatever could mean danger.
"Nate..." Chuck began. It was whenever he used anything but Nathaniel's full name to address him that Nate knew he meant business. Nathaniel knew that they were about to get into something deep. It was probably going to be something that neither of them wanted to talk about, but they were going to anyway.
Besides, what are friends for?

(I change up the color once in a while, but I give it a break every month. Too often, and it'll melt my hair.)
(Seriously. My auntie did it too many times once, and her hair literally MELTED!)
The top of my head is messy, dark brown, and curly with dark red roots.
I tend to put on eyeshadow (or blush that I'm using as eyeshadow) to match whatever outfit I'm using.
It's bright and it's colorful, but I'm sure not to put too much on and look like a drag queen. XD
I never put on too much eyeliner either. Then you just look... Pardon... Trashy. XP
I wear colorful skinny jeans and crazy outfits that still match,
But they're not too crazy. Not like the "LOOK AT ME" crazy,
but the memorable kind of crazy that causes people to get curious,
And they remember me... But I forget them. :[
I think that waaaay to many people look EXACTLY the same today.
It's getting harder for me to tell people apart. XD
I was standing with a group of my friends one day.
We all go to the same high school,
But the guy we were talking to only remembered me.
If you don't want unwanted attention, still be original.
People won't think much of it if you're still nice to them. :]
Trust me from experience.

Well first post... So I'll say a bit about myself.
"WandS-by-Day" stands for "Writing and Sketching by Day." XD
If you get to know me, you know that I like LOVE color, and I'll do things like
Putting fun colors in my hair because it's awesome.
But I don't like extensions... If I do something weird, it's going to be with my real head. :]
-And I never want to change the main, natural, God-given color of most of my head.
When I say color, no, I am NOT referring to gay people. XP
If you find me weird- that's okay. Everyone has their quirks.
I'm still a teen, fresh into high school... YIKES. It is pretty fun at times.
I love Panic! at the Disco. They're a very fun, original band.
Sanctus Real is very amazing too. :D I LOVE MUSIC.
I am currently learning to play the guitar. No, I'm not gewd yet. -.-
I've had to move quite a bit in my life, but I've always stayed local.
I do enjoy writing fanfiction/stories. If you make a request, I'll try to write it. :]
Unless your request goes against something I strongly believe in. :/
If I've never seen something you request (show, videogame, ect.), I may not want to write it,
But I'll try looking it up if you really want it.

That's a bit about me... I'm open to conversation if you're bored. :]
